Julie Chen Moonves, who was one of the initial hosts and moderators on The Talk (a Daytime Emmy Award winning talk show), returned August 5 for the 22nd season. She was a journalist before becoming host, however her true love of writing was for the written word. It actually won her an Emmy. Her outstanding talk show also won her an Emmy. Prior to joining CBS News, Chen Moonves worked as a reporter at WDTN-TV Dayton (1995-1997). Also, she was employed by ABC NewsOne from 1992-1995. Her first job in broadcasting was as a desk associate for ABC News' late-night broadcast Nightline with Ted Koppel, who remains one of her journalism heros. Chen Moonves worked with Koppel for the du-Pont-winning Columbia premiertime show, Anatomy of a Riot that examined the 1992 Los Angeles riots.
